Specification Guide

Before we can make a piece we may need to know these things.

We will not be responsible for errors due to poor specifications. Supply an accurate drawing with measurements to be certain of correct results.

Application
We need any relevant details about the purpose, position and use of the panel in order to determine the most appropriate choice of materials and fixings. Some applications have safety and legal requirements.

The glass may be plain float, toughened or laminated. It may be mounted with adhesive, in a frame or mechanically with wall anchors.

Size of panel
You will need to tell us the exact size you want the panel to be. Please measure accurately, especially for toughened glass as we can't change it once it is cut to size and tempered.

For kitchen splashbacks that have to fit within a defined space, we recommend you specify a size that will allow a 2mm gap on all sides. For example, if the available area is 600mm high by 2 metres wide, specify height = 596mm, width = 1996mm.

The standard glass thickness for splashbacks, artworks and fully supported panels is 6mm (1/4"). Table tops and large or wall mounted panels are thicker depending on size and the type of mounting.

Edges
A flat polished edge has a 2mm wide 45 degree face on both sides. A bevelled edge is polished with a bevel cut to your specified width up to 40mm. (often they around 25mm (1")). (see profiles)

Holes
We can cut holes to allow for power points, switches or taps. Please specify the position of the hole centre measured from both left and bottom edges and also the diameter of the hole. This must be cut before the glass is toughened. It cannot be done later.

Corners
Unless otherwise specified, corners will be square. If you want it rounded off, please specify the radius of the required curve.

The radius is the distance from the centre of a circle to its edge. For example, a CD has a radius of 60mm.
