Lettering is bright 23ct gold outer with a matt centre and brown shadow.

The matt in "1994" is 12ct white gold. Scrolls in 18ct green gold are scratched (engraved) to give them some form and the background is painted to look like travertine and malachite behind the scroll.

The lettering, though small is hand-painted, not screen-printed or masked.
