Cafe Paragon

Everything has a beginning and this cafe in Rathdowne Street, Carlton was my first piece that went beyond plain gilded lettering.

While it may not be particularly groundbreaking, the business is a landmark in the street and remains one of my personal favorites.

The requirement was for classic Roman lettering and the "prismatic" look, using bright finish and matt finish 23ct gold, captures the look of stone carving.

A later establishment for the same client, Paragon City, is in an art deco style using sans-serif lettering with matt centres in 23.5ct red gold
