glass backsplash in modern kitchenKitchen Splashbacks

Kitchen splashbacks (backsplashes) are an important new use of glass gilding, one that has exciting possibilities. With the easy cleaning, non-staining quality of glass, they are the perfect surface for a kitchen.

While others also make glass splashbacks, they are usually just painted in plain color. Ours are decorated with genuine gold leaf and reverse painting. We like to think of our splashbacks as "artwork for the kitchen".

We are developing a range of designs and finishes that we can supply by the square metre (see swatches). We can also custom make them to your taste ranging from faux finishes to full artworks. You might consider including a painted trompe l'oeil detail such as the apple shown here on a splashback done in white metals (12ct gold / palladium / aluminium).

We use 6mm toughened glass, for safety and to comply with Australian standards. The edges are flat/polished but we can also supply them bevelled.

Mounting is easily done by a competent (and careful) tradesman. They are usually mounted with silicone but can also be mechanically fastened with wall anchors Being toughened glass, the correct size must be specified and all holes included because it can't be modified later.

Other similar applications for glass gilding are benchtops and bathroom glass.
