Glass Tabletops

Glass tabletops can be made to your specifications in any design. Being made as an artwork, your table will be a one-off original.

Size can range from very large tables for boardrooms or dining settings to small bistro and coffee tables. Any shape is possible and they can be either set within a table that frames the glass or sit on a pedestal of your choice with the edge free.

Our standard method of making tabletops, after painting and gilding on the back of a sheet of glass, is to laminate a second matching sheet under the artwork that protects the design in a sandwich of glass.

The laminated top is usually 16mm thick, made from two matching sheets of 8mm glass. Any other thickness is available to suit specific needs. 12mm is sufficient for a small or medium size panel if it's set within a timber base while 20mm is a preferable size for very large tables.

A variety of edge treatments is available in most sizes, including bevelled, rounded and flat polished. The lamination line between the two sheets of glass is recessed and sealed smooth. It doesn't detract from the quality of finish.

Although many of our clients commission us to make an individual piece to suit, we have a few finished ones that are available for sale. Take a look at the current examples in the Items for Sale section.
